Ein typisches Jamie Cullum Konzert: zwei Zugaben, Mitsingstücke zwischendurch, ein paar neue Songs, ein paar alte. Er ist gerade zwischen zwei Alben, und das merkt man — das war kein „ich muss ein neues Album verkaufen“-Konzert, sondern ein „ich hab Bock auf Leute und will jetzt live auftreten“-Konzert.
Ich habe ihn schon einmal im HP8 gesehen, und diesmal war noch mehr von dieser „kommt erstmal zusammen und habt eine gute Zeit“-Stimmung dabei. Alle standen sofort, Sitzenbleiben hätte auch überhaupt keinen Sinn gemacht.
Klavier spielt er dabei erstaunlich wenig. Der Typ springt die ganze Zeit über die Bühne, als hätte er ADHS, springt wirklich vom Klavier runter, stellt sich neben die Solisten und feuert sie an. Zwei komplette Songs läuft er durchs Publikum und singt nur da drin. Er ist echt klein, aber er zieht das voll durch.
Es macht einfach unendlich Spaß, zu ihm auf ein Konzert zu gehen. Ich würde auch noch zehn Konzerte von ihm mitnehmen, egal was er spielt.
A typical Jamie Cullum gig: two encores, sing-along bits in between, a few new songs, a few old ones. He’s between albums right now and you can tell — this wasn’t an „I have to sell a new record“ show, it was an „I just want to be around people and play live“ show.
I’d seen him at the HP8 once before, and this time there was even more of that „let’s all get together and have a good time“ mood. Everybody was on their feet immediately, sitting down wouldn’t have made any sense at all.
He plays surprisingly little piano while doing it. The man bounces around the stage the whole time like he’s got ADHD, actually jumps off the piano, plants himself next to people and fires them up. For two entire songs he’s out walking through the crowd, singing from in there. He’s genuinely small, but he absolutely commits.
It’s just endlessly fun going to one of his shows. I’d happily take another ten of them, whatever he plays
