Also: Wow
I don’t get why this band isn’t already massively famous. Kraschi just asked if we wanted to come along, I didn’t know the band, thought the name was funny and went. Vereinsheim, not even close to sold out.
And then there are these completely professional musicians on stage. The quality is very very high, even though what they play is a kind of slow pop jazz — and it’s endlessly entertaining. The lyrics are outstanding. They’re in Lower Bavarian dialect and I couldn’t even understand parts of it, but outstanding. Even better are the long stories told between the songs. All of it on a seriously professional level. Purely on entertainment value this band belongs in a stadium, not in a Vereinsheim.
And this is what that looks like in a big hall, live from Circus Krone:
I actually liked the newer songs better than the old ones about Hans in the woods, because the new ones hit a bit harder and the old ones are very melancholic and quiet. Doesn’t take anything away from it though — it’s wild how you can play songs that melancholic with that much joy.
The funniest bit was the five-second game: they played tiny snippets of songs and you had to guess which one. Charlie, a friend of mine, guessed fastest and won free tickets for the next gig. Which the clarinet player just happened to have on him.
After the show the whole band was still standing around in the Vereinsheim, drinking beer with us, and we had a few schnapps. A proper family atmosphere for a band that really belongs in a big hall. So: wow
