Ganz spontan nach dem Biergarten und Büro: ein Freund fragte, ob ich sein Ticket haben will, und dann stand ich in der Muffathalle.
Curtis Harding macht Soul Pop, aber sehr gitarrenlastig und ziemlich rockig. Eingängige Songs, technisch alles sauber, richtig gut gespielt, dazu eine supercoole Band. Und er selbst ist einfach ein richtig richtig cooler Dude — schaut cool aus, macht coole Ansagen zwischen den Songs, hat Spaß mit seiner Band. Die Sachen vom neuen Album haben mir live allerdings nicht so gut gefallen wie die vom alten, das klingt sich alles recht ähnlich.
Mitgenommen hat es mich trotzdem nicht so richtig. Mir fehlte der Vibe, der Übersprung ins Publikum — dieses Gefühl, dass da einer reinkommt und den Laden komplett im Griff hat. Das hat Curtis Harding noch nicht. Ich könnte mir aber gut vorstellen, dass er das in fünf Jahren hat und dann ganz groß wird.
Gerade ist es ein okayes Konzert. Macht Spaß, gut anzuhören, aber berauschend war es nicht

Curtis Harding does soul pop, but very guitar-heavy and pretty rocky. Catchy songs, technically clean, really well played, and a seriously cool band behind him. And the man himself is just a really really cool dude — looks cool, cool little comments between the songs, clearly enjoys himself with his band. The stuff from the new album didn’t do as much for me live as the older material though, it all sounds fairly similar.
Still, it didn’t quite grab me. What I missed was the vibe, that spark jumping over to the crowd — the feeling of someone walking in and owning the room completely. Curtis Harding isn’t there yet. But I can absolutely imagine him getting there in five years and becoming huge.
Right now it’s an okay gig. Fun to go to, nice to listen to, but not mind-blowing
