Weil der Mann ein Wahnsinns Entertainer ist. Er spielt Songs, und man wei\u00df nicht, ob das seine Songs sind, ob er sie sich gerade w\u00e4hrend des Konzerts ausdenkt oder ob sie ihm jemand geschrieben hat. Der Typ ist v\u00f6llig irre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wer ihn noch nicht geh\u00f6rt hat, kann sich mal seinen Weltrekord im Klavierspielen am St\u00fcck in Paris anh\u00f6ren:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"7lNX9X2yAZ\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chillygonzales.com\/music\/guiness-world-record-the-works\/\">Guinness World Record The Works<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"\u00ab\u00a0Guinness World Record The Works\u00a0\u00bb &#8212; Chilly Gonzales\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chillygonzales.com\/music\/guiness-world-record-the-works\/embed\/#?secret=uiI0tZ3Bu9#?secret=7lNX9X2yAZ\" data-secret=\"7lNX9X2yAZ\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wir waren im HP8 vom Gasteig, und ich habe mir wieder die Pl\u00e4tze direkt an der B\u00fchne gesichert. Dann sieht man ihn n\u00e4mlich in seinem wahnsinnig gro\u00dfartigen Outfit: Bademantel, Schlappen und drunter wahrscheinlich irgendein Superman-Kost\u00fcm \u2014 was er wirklich drunter tr\u00e4gt, wei\u00df ich nicht. Damit kommt er auf die B\u00fchne gewatschelt, reingelaufen w\u00fcrde ich das nicht nennen, und sammelt erstmal f\u00fcnf Stunden Applaus ein, weil ihn das hoch motiviert. Und dann macht er am Klavier Sachen, die einfach nur Chilly Gonzales kann. W\u00e4hrenddessen erz\u00e4hlt er unendlich lustige Geschichten aus seinem Leben in K\u00f6ln, was ihm so passiert und welche anderen K\u00fcnstler er kennt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nach dem Konzert wei\u00df man wirklich nicht mehr, welche Songs er gespielt hat. Bei mir ist ein einziger h\u00e4ngen geblieben: FCK WAGNER. Und der auch nur, weil er ihn so lange angek\u00fcndigt und so lange erkl\u00e4rt hat, warum er ihn geschrieben hat, was ihm an dem Song wichtig ist und warum seine politische Einstellung wichtig ist. Genau das macht ihn aus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ich kann ihn immer wieder sehen, weil kein Konzert von Chilly Gonzales so sein wird wie das davor. Er legt wenig Wert darauf, Popsongs abzuliefern, die das Publikum unbedingt haben will. Er entertaint \u00fcber die Art, wie er Klavier spielt, wie er das Klavier benutzt und wie er dazu rappt oder singt oder eine Zwischenstufe aus beidem macht. Er missbraucht das Klavier als Percussioninstrument und gar nicht als Melodieinstrument. Dieser Fl\u00fcgel, an dem er sitzt und steht, den er streichelt und zerst\u00f6rt \u2014 da zuzuschauen macht unendlich Spa\u00df.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Man versteht nicht, wie das funktioniert oder was da funktioniert. Sollte man mal gesehen haben<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I go to Chilly Gonzales concerts a lot and still hardly ever listen to his music at home, I have to admit that. Because the man is an incredible entertainer. He plays songs, and you have no idea whether they&#8217;re his songs, whether he&#8217;s making them up right there during the show, or whether somebody wrote them for him. The guy is completely mad.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you&#8217;ve never heard him, go and listen to his world record for the longest continuous piano performance in Paris:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We were at the HP8 at the Gasteig, and I&#8217;d again grabbed seats right by the stage. That way you get to see him in his gloriously ridiculous outfit: bathrobe, slippers, and probably some kind of Superman costume underneath \u2014 what&#8217;s actually under there, I don&#8217;t know. He waddles onto the stage in it, walking on isn&#8217;t really the word, and first collects about five hours of applause because that motivates him. And then he does things at the piano that only Chilly Gonzales can do. All the while telling endlessly funny stories about his life in Cologne, what happens to him and which other artists he knows.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>After the show you genuinely can&#8217;t remember which songs he played. One stuck with me: FCK WAGNER. And only because he announced it for so long and explained at such length why he wrote it, what matters to him about it and why his politics matter. That&#8217;s exactly what makes him who he is.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I can watch him again and again, because no Chilly Gonzales concert will ever be like the one before. He doesn&#8217;t much care about delivering the pop songs the crowd wants. He entertains through the way he plays the piano, the way he uses it, and the way he raps or sings or does something halfway between the two over it. He abuses the piano as a percussion instrument rather than a melodic one. That grand piano he sits at and stands on, strokes and destroys \u2014 watching it is just endless fun.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You don&#8217;t understand how it works or what exactly is working.
